During ASREN's recent visit to Egypt (26-28 May), our team, joined by our
colleague Dr. Rawia, held several key meetings with distinguished organizations
to discuss cooperation and future projects.
UNESCO: We met with Dr. Bisher Imam to discuss strategies to
implement UNESCO's Open Science recommendations in the Arab Region, emphasizing
the acceleration of these initiatives. Key discussions centered on the critical
engagement of researchers and addressing their thematic needs to ensure better
adoption of open science practices.
AFLI: Our meeting with the Arab Federation for Libraries and
Information was centered on strengthening global library networks and
supporting information professionals in the Arab region, emphasizing the
crucial role of librarians in building capacity for open science and
accelerating researchers' engagement in this transformative movement.
Discussions also centered on potential collaborations for the upcoming e-Age
conference, scheduled for December, where these themes will be further explored
and developed.
Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils: We
underscored the pivotal role of research and education networks in promoting
the implementation of open science and fostering research and innovation across
the Arab region. The discussions emphasized the development of both
connectivity and non-connectivity infrastructures and services as essential
components for this advancement.
These meetings were perceptive, and we are enthusiastic about the potential collaborations and advancements they promise.
