Meeting with Tunisia's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

The Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN), represented by its Managing Director, Yousef Torman, held an important meeting with His Excellency Mr. Mondher Belaid, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia, at the Ministry's headquarters. The meeting, which was also attended by Ms. Saoussen Krichen, Managing Director of the Al-Khawarizmi Computing Center, focused on deepening collaboration and covered ASREN’s efforts in enhancing digital infrastructures, promoting Open Science, and providing valuable services for researchers and academics across the Arab region.

Key Discussion points evolved around the recent projects launched with the support of the European Union, including EUMEDplus. Collaborations with Arab and European networks, including GÉANT, were highlighted as vital to the success of these projects.

Preparations for ASREN’s 14th Annual Conference, e-AGE24, were also on the agenda. Scheduled to be held in Tunis from December 11 to 13, 2024, the conference will take place under the patronage of His Excellency. It is set to bring together a diverse group of participants, including students, researchers, professors, and technology experts from across the Arab region and internationally.

His Excellency the Minister stressed the importance of mobilizing all resources and efforts to ensure the success of this significant event and to overcome any challenges that may arise in the coming months.
